Book of Revelation – Comments 2

These comments refer to the preceding article, The Book Of Revelation – Outline

Chapter 4

Vision of God’s throne, the twenty-four elders, the seven spirits of God, the four living creatures.

Chapter 5

God on the throne held a scroll. It had seven seals. Only Jesus was qualified to open the seals.

The throne, Jesus, the seven spirits, the elders, the living creatures surrounded by a vast host of millions of angels.

Chapter 6

For comments on the four horsemen please see “The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse” and the associated references page. The four horsemen are the first four seals.

Why is it that the first four seals are horsemen? Probably because they ride together from the time of Christ until the Return, whereas the other seals represent events or relatively shorter periods of time.

Verses 9 – 11 discuss the fifth seal. This is figurative of course because the saints already killed are indeed dead. It’s a figure of speech along the same lines that Abel’s blood cried out from the ground after his murder by Cain.

This vision refers to a time getting on towards the return of Jesus when there’s a martyrdom of the saints (“. . told to wait a little longer. . “). They refuse to follow the beast or the false prophet and readily accept the death penalty.

This martyrdom takes place probably over a period of years, and involves Christians from all nations.  God knows those destined to die, and he knows who will survive until the Return.

There are some advantages actually in making your exit early on.

[ Just a refresher. Remember that Bible prophecy concerns two Israels --

1. physical Israel, made up of the Jews (Judah), possibly the English-speaking nations (USA, UK, Canada, Australasia) (Ephraim and Manasseh (?)) plus other European nations. The prophecies of the Old Testament principally concern physical Israel who rejected God, however many prophecies do look forward to a spiritual Israel;

2. spiritual Israel. These are Christians from all points of the compass. The prophecies of the New Testament principally concern spiritual Israel. They will rule over the survivors from physical Israel, and rule over the rest of the world for the thousand years.]

The sixth seal signifies the end of God’s patience. For thousands of years he has seen mankind get away with murder. Now is the time for the wicked to take a full dose of their own medicine.

There is a great earthquake and terrifying sights in the heavens. The day of Satan’s wrath is reaching its climax. He is no match for God, and it is to be an embarrassingly uneven contest.
